Sharks

Yep, so I haven’t really posted for a while. In a few spare moments I had at work today I decided to bring my dream for a pet shark that much closer. After a bit of research on the net I have found that there are quite a lot of sharks who are happy enough in fresh water as well as salt (which is good, salt water pumps and fittings would be far more expensive (due to the corrosive and abrasive nature of salt water) then their freshwater counterparts.

I started by ringing the RSPCA head office in Sydney, who said that there are probably strict laws about keeping sharks, but that I should call the WA office as the laws would be state specific. Fair enough.
I called the WA RSPCA who then proceeded to tell me that to own a shark I would more then likely need a special lisence from the fisheries department and that it would more then likely be cost prohibitive to get such a lisence.
So I called the fisheries department.
Keeping a pet shark is perfectly legal in WA, with no lisence required as long as you are not breeding them.

So the plan forward is:

1.) Build HUGE pond
2.) Buy and breed koi for 12 months
3.) Sell koi = profit = feed for shark
4.) Capture/buy shark
5.) Enjoy shark

except my pond would be much, much, bigger.
