Social Networking application addiction

I’ve found my new crack, at least until I get home and go into Internet-rehab as I always do.
Social networking websites (specifically myspace and facebook) which I have talked about before on here have somewhat enveloped a large portion of my web time of late. Every few hours, nay! minutes! I check to see if some long lost friend or relative has found me, spending hours, racking my brain to see if I can remember the name of the kid who I beat up in primary school.

My steady descent into the social networking circle started with Myspace. I was initially against the idea, having seen some garishly designed myspace profiles, and after all, why do I need another presence on the Internet when I already have a blog?
Eventually curiosity got the best of me and now I too have a garish profile and a multitude of friends. For a while all was good 🙂

Then I read articles on facebook, along the lines of “MySpace is for the masses and facebook is for the more educated”, I felt infuriated that someone would deem themselves more elitist. After all, facebook has none of the music and wacky backgrounds that I had eventually succumbed to in myspace. The gf assured me it was better, however I was almost scared of the “how do you know these people” section – Im not sure I want to remember how I met most people – “This is Jack, he knows Tom from Prison, they had a whirlwind romance however Jack remains in Prision and get’s parole this year”. That’s right dear readers, amongst Jack I am sure there are plenty more skeletons (and zombies, everyone loves zombies) locked away in my closet that I didn’t want to come out in the light of day (or if they did, I was hoping for melanoma and a quick death).

So yep, yet again, curiosity got the best of me and now here I am… a blog, 2 profiles and god knows how many other web presences on the web…

Questions of the day:
1.) How many web presences do you have? Admit it, you’ve had to google yourself to remind yourself of all the stuff you no longer use.. remember that ICQ account? 😉
2.) Why the hell do spell checkers insist that internet is a proper noun?

Oh yeah.. Tuesday.. picture.. right..
