Back at work…
Posted by tmz_99 on August 30th, 2007 filed in UncategorizedSo yeah.. back on the rig again, not in Singapore as expected or anything, it appears that the proverbial carrot is once again being dangled in front of my face.
Anyway, Im sure you all want to know about how my time off was, (and if you’re not I thought I’d indulge anyway).. 🙂
Notable Events:
The new kitchen cupboards and wine rack were finished, I’ll post some photos tomorrow, it looks a pimpin 🙂
Put a deposit on a house to be built on my investment property in Sinagra – the ‘Metro’ by New Generation Homes. I built my house with these guys and they claim to have an average build time of only 26 weeks, for the purposes of an investment 6 months is plenty.. 🙂
The bike broke down 🙁 I got the flu and couldnt be bothered taking it apart, then by the time I recovered, I couldn’t be bothered taking it apart.. I have a feeling it’s not getting spark somehow.
Me and my sis made good, then made bad, then made good and essentially settled on bad again I think…
Movies: Only went to the actual movies the once to see the Simpson’s movie. It was good, what can one say? I was expecting a long episode and that is precisely what I got… I guess what the simpsons gain’s from a movie is the long storyline that couldn’t have been told otherwise due to the TV shows lack of continuity. 6/10
I did watch a lot of downloaded shizz in the meantime, notably “I Think I Love My Wife” and “Man About Town”, less notibly “Queer Duck: The Movie”
Games: I started playing Test Drive: Unlimited again, initially I wasn’t enthused when I first got the game because I wasn’t really a fan of the realistic driving model vs something like Need for Speed. However not much enticing me at EB made me pull this game out again and I REALLY got into it.. I didn’t quite finish it but I’m close, I can feel it. haha.. 🙂
I also managed to get my hands on BioShock… haha.. yeah, this game rather rocks, it took me about 2 1/2 days to complete it and I have to say it was pretty fucking awesome, but rather then focus on all the good bits (which everyone else seems to be) let’s have a look at the few let downs
– Character progression is rather linear, which is to say by the end of the game your avatar is pretty much all-powerful with everything maxxed our rather then having to choose a speciality as was the case in System Shock 2 (how can we not compare?)
– The plasmids available to the player aren’t all available to the bad guys, there are none with the powers of telekinesis or electricity, only the one with the ice power, overall the inhabitants of Rapture could have had a lot more variety.
– The end is just too easy. The final boss takes about 5 minutes to defeat. Maybe I should have played the game on a difficulty level other then “normal” but due to the lack of customisation mentioned before it’s hard to want to play the game again as the experience will be much the same, the only difference being of course that I would kill all the little sisters (has anyone done this? I would love to know the second ending). 7.5/10
Stay tuned for less boring posts in the future.. unless you are feeling sleepy, in which case just re-read this post again.. and again.. and don’t forget to mail me your wallet.
