Orchard Rd
Posted by tmz_99 on February 17th, 2007 filed in UncategorizedSo last night I managed to make it to Orchard road with the rig manager. Orchard road is all decorated with hanging lights from x-mas all the way through to Chinese new years.
Went to a few shops in Centrepoint and walked around Orchard, around Lucky plaza and eventually caught the MRT back to the rig, except we went about 4 stations too far and had to catch a taxi anyway. Meh.
Other impressions that were made last night:
1.) The general style of architecture is very european
2.) There’s a lot of cute girls here, far cuter then Thailand, but the two countries are worlds apart
3.) I didn’t go to any of the shops I really wanted to see
As a result of Chinese new years most of the stores will be closed till Monday/Tuesday, still going to go out to Jurien Point after work today, to check it out. Then tomorrow I’d like to check out China Town (should be lots of celebrations) and maybe little India. We shall see. 🙂
Definitely doesn’t feel like a holiday, but it’s a different experience working in the shipyard – something that we don’t have the opportunity to do very often so I’m all for soaking up the experience like a pirate soaks up rum.
My computer here has taken 5 days to get the parts to get operational, finally I have grown sick of promises as empty as an open bottle of helium and started using my lappy for work purposes.
