Back stateside
Posted by tmz_99 on October 16th, 2006 filed in UncategorizedWell, so back in Perth I am, after a decidedly brilliant holiday that blew just a little (double!) over budget – but onto that soon.
As I haven’t posted in a few days, here’s basically a highlight run down rather then a day by day account (probably save a lot of useless reading.. kebab joints everywhere? who cares!). The only thing off my list I didn’t manage to do was the bungee from the Harbour Bridge, by all other accounts the trip was a resounding success, and a 75% completion, when coupled with unexpected bonuses would creep close to that 100% anyways 🙂
1.) The tattoo. Here it is, in all it’s just-been-done glory.. 🙂 Am very happy with the design. 2 1/2 hours under the gun. Big heads up to Dez @ Dermagraphics in Ponsonby.
2.) The tower jump. This is the view from the viewing platform just a few metres above the jump platform. The jump station is 192m above the ground, making it the world’s biggest tower jump (the sky tower is incidentally the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere). The jump itself was exhillerating. Has done nothing at all for my general dislike of heights, however a new goal has creeped onto my to-do list. Hang gliding.
3.) The ice bar. Here I am at the ice bar, me and Jared went on a Tuesday and had the whole bar to ourselves (and the bar tender) which allowed us to be a bit lax on the rules and stay far above the 25 minute limit. We only managed to down 2 cocktails each in that time, however apperantly the sub zero temperatures (it was a constant -6.5 deg in the bar) add up to the drinks being three times as potent.
4.) On seeing everyone again. Had a great get together on Sat night (and consequently a ‘can’t fucking move’ Sunday morning). So many people rocked up it was just damn brilliant. Big props to Jared for putting up with me a lot of the time and to Tate for putting up with me the rest of the time.. 🙂
The budget got a bit blown due to some dickhead at 2am slamming a wheelie bin into the rear of my rental.. 🙁 $3000 excess, I will get back anything that they haven’t used to fix it up.. *sigh* It was a Ford Focus with 163km on the clock when I picked it up, damn brand new…. meh… oh, and the 30 year old Glenfiddich I picked up on the way back didn’t help matters too much either 😉
