House of Wax

I just saw House of Wax.

HoW

Apperantly it’s a remake of the 50’s movie. Having seen the original before seeing this one, I can say the only thing they have in common is that the general way bodies finish up in both movies is in a wax mould.
Overall, the original is this quaint horror movie that takes place in affluent british society.
The remake however is reminescent of taking the original and mixing it with the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (except there are no chainsaws, and people don’t get eaten, they get covered in wax instead).
The style of the movie is edgy, violent and filled with plenty of tense moments and a splattering of moments that make you cringe. In fact, it does everything a horror movie should do with style.
The acting is solid, even Paris Hilton pulls off a good performance which really does give her some credo.
This movie gave me chills, made me jump and kept me on the edge of my seat, a resounding 9/10. Possibly the best hollywood horror movie from the mid-2004/mid-2005 period.

Frypan … you won’t win fans by making light on a topic like that even if you’re mucking around, at the risk of offending.

Tom – I’m tempted to stir you and say perhaps you’re not so much movie buff as Paris-fan if the review of Paris’s acting is positive! 😉 *teasing* Except I liked some of your other reviews, and I’m no horror movie fan so I’ll take your word for it.
