The tow is over and I can STILL taste purple

Yeah, so the tow is over and all I have to show for it is more lost sleep and 3 movie reviews! 🙂

Movie #1 : Fantastic 4

With the recent onlsaught of super hero movies in order for a super hero movie to be good it has to try really hard to differentiate itself from the others. The fantastic 4 does NOT do this, it really is what it appears to be on the cover. A faithful and solid adaptation of the comic book.
The acting by and large is very good, the special effects visually stunning and the story line, well the story line is true to its comic book heritage.
Had this movie been released before say, the original X-men movie, or before Spiderman or the Hulk it would get a resounding 9/10. However, becasue it has all these other movies to contend with and becasue it offers very little originality it only recieves a 7/10. Saying that tho, it’ll probably be one of the best superhero movies out this year, it’s better than Batman certainly (altho Batman is a cooler “darker” character).

Movie #2: Valiant

Valiant is the story of heroic WW][ pigeons. Told with computer animation this is a cool movie for the kids to watch this summer. The storyline is hardly ever funny, nor does it try to be, it really is a war movie scaled down so that the little ones don’t get scared. It features a whole host of stereotypes and the typical movie theme of a band of rag-tag individuals coming together as a team to defeat the facist Nazis.
The animation itself is smooth and detailed with some hand-drawn backgrounds added in for good measure.

Movie #3: Lost In La Mancha

Lost in La mancha is a documentary on the non-making of a movie. Everything that can go wrong DOES and this domumentary is all that is commercially aviable from the movie that never happened (but still might). Certainly a truthful and sad insight into the world of movie production and the vision of the director. Altho it has some entertainment value this documentary is generally well put together and an interesting watch.
