So on Sunday I flew back into Singapore – after working in the oilfield for almost 4 years I never went to Singapore and now I’ve managed to turn up here twice in 3 months. This time to do relief work for a week on a different rig.<\/p>\n
To their credit the company I’m working for put me up in Singapore overnight, so I managed to spend Sunday with HB Chocolate (Carissa). We went out to dinner, I rode a cow, and the rest of the time we spent in the hotel room (bastards gave me 2 single beds.. bah.. \ud83d\ude1b )<\/p>\n
The rig I’m on is 26 years old and built in Russia. During that time I believe it has drilled 6 holes, I guess this speaks volumes for it’s design. Every day we are getting 30-40 day trippers, who are a complete pain in the arse to keep track of so far (seeing as many do not speak English) and it appears to be busier every day (then again, I can only base my experience on the two days I have spent here thus far). I will post some pictures up later. \ud83d\ude42 The crew here are pretty good tho and there’s a few blasts from the past (an inevitable bonus of the oilfield) and are committed to making it all work, not an easy task.
